On 22 April the commander of Colombia’s army, General Eduardo Zapateiro Altamiranda, was accused of interfering in politics after he criticised Gustavo Petro, the left-wing frontrunner for the 29 May first round of the presidential election who represents the Pacto Histórico coalition.
