In brief: Mexico’s monthly economic activity stagnates

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for its monthly global indicator of economic activity (IGAE) which show there was no change in economic activity in February 2022 as compared to January 2022. In seasonally-adjusted monthly terms, activities in the tertiary sector (services) grew 0.6%, with the primary sector (agriculture) decreasing 3.8% and secondary sector (industry) down 1%. In year-on-year terms, economic activity increased by 2.7% in February 2022. According to Inegi, the tertiary sector grew by 2.8% and the secondary sector was up 2.5%, while the primary sector decreased by 2.4% year-on-year.
