HONDURAS: Castro moves on another electoral pledge

President Xiomara Castro this week sanctioned legislation which revokes the legislative framework for the so-called employment and economic development zones (Zedes). These were passed in 2013 under the right-wing Partido Nacional (PN) government led by Porfirio Lobo (2010-2014) and promoted by Lobo’s successor, Juan Orlando Hernández (PN, 2014-2022), who, in another early indication that Castro means business, was extradited to the US this week.
