On 2 May, the left-wing frontrunner for the 29 May first round of Colombia’s presidential election, Gustavo Petro (Pacto Histórico), announced that he was cancelling campaign events in the departments of Quindío, Caldas, and Risaralda in response to an alleged assassination plot against him.
