In brief: Year-on-year fall in car sales in Brazil

* Brazil’s national federation of automobile dealers (Fenabrave) has released figures on the sector’s performance in April, which show that car sales fell by 13.9% year-on-year to total 109,684 units, and the sale of light commercial vehicles fell by 26.8% to total 26,657. Overall sales of all vehicles totalled 270,560 units (-6.07%), with tumbling sales of cars and light commercial vehicles compensated somewhat by a 13.7% increase in motorbike sales and an 8.9% increase in bus sales. In monthly terms, sales remained largely stable compared to March, with combined sales of cars, light commercial vehicles, lorries and buses increasing by 0.3%.
