In brief: Colombia’s inflation continues to soar

* Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has published the latest consumer price index which shows that monthly inflation for April was 1.25%, up from 1.0% in March, with the steepest increases in clothing & footwear (2.99%) and food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.75%). In annual terms, inflation reached 9.23% in April, its highest level in over two decades and 7.28 percentage points higher than the same time last year, when annual inflation was at 1.95%. Food & non-alcoholic beverages (26.17%) and restaurants & hotels (14.37%) registered the highest increases in annual terms.
