*The presidents of Uruguay,
Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou, and Paraguay,
Mario Abdo Benítez, have agreed to deepen economic relations. During an official visit to Paraguay, Lacalle Pou commended Paraguay’s productive growth in recent years, especially in the meat sector, and highlighted possibilities to cooperate in increasing this growth via giving the landlocked country greater access to Uruguayan ports for exports.
“I am convinced that Uruguay is the natural outlet to the sea for Paraguay,” he said in a meeting with Abdo Benítez. The two heads of state also highlighted negotiations for the export of Paraguayan meat for the Uruguayan domestic market as a further sign of their jointly beneficial relationship, given Uruguay exports much of the meat it produces.
