BRAZIL: What is Lula’s economic policy?

It was an extremely high-profile interview and an extraordinary answer to a question. Brazil’s former president Lula da Silva (2003-2011) was asked by a journalist in a cover story feature for Time magazine, published on 4 May, what his economic policies would be if he wins a third term in the October presidential elections. “We don’t discuss economic policies before winning elections,” he said, adding “First, you have to win elections. And then you have to know who you will have in your team and what you will do.”
