In brief: Two new wind farms earmarked for Brazil’s Pernambuco

* The government of the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco has announced the construction of two new wind farms: Ventos do Piauí II and Ventos do Piauí III. Work on the energy plants is set to commence in November, generating an expected 590 jobs. According to local press reports, the two wind firms, which will have a combined capacity of 94.5 MW, will receive a R$455m (US$93.2m) investment from Brazilian energy company Auren Energia.
