COSTA RICA: Chaves faces unexpected challenge

“We’re at war and this is not an exaggeration.” This was the response by Costa Rica’s new president, Rodrigo Chaves, to a ransomware attack attributed to Russia-based cybercrime group Conti which is proving a major challenge to his Partido Progreso Social Democrático (PPSD) government, which took office on 8 May.
