Santokhi strengthens Suriname’s standing

Suriname’s President Chandrikapersad Santokhi is looking to deepen diplomatic relations with the country’s former colonial masters in the Netherlands and with the US. Since coming to power in July 2020, Santokhi has sought to revive Suriname’s ties with both countries that were put on ice during the two administrations of his predecessor Dési Bouterse (2010-2020).
