In brief: Brazil’s consumption of industrial goods rises in March

* Brazil’s (Ipea), a government-led research institute, has released the latest figures for the index on apparent consumption of industrial goods, which rose 1.1% in March compared to the previous month. Ipea noted that Brazilian production aimed at the domestic market rose by 0.8% in March, while imports of industrial goods increased by 2.7%. However, Ipea highlighted that demand for industrial goods remained 4.7% lower than in March 2021, while demand in Q1 2022 was down 6.6% on the same quarter last year.
