MEXICO: A bright new era for Mexico-US security relations?

Delegations from the Mexican and US government met on 27 April to present the main achievements of the revamped Mexico-US security alliance, officially known as the Bicentennial Framework for Security, Public Health, and Safe Communities, which was launched late last year. Much has been made of the framework’s role in ushering in a new era of bilateral security cooperation, based on mutual respect and collaboration. Yet, beneath the surface, all is not as rosy as it may seem with regards to bilateral security relations.
