In brief: Peru hails surge in tourism

*Peru’s foreign trade & tourism minister, Roberto Sánchez has announced that 514,000 international tourists visited Peru in the first five months of 2022, an increase of 688.1% on the same period in 2021, which was affected by the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Sánchez said that 65.4% of international tourists came from the US, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain and Brazil. He said that the figure was 34.9% of the target for the entire year.
