PERU: Castillo faces criminal charges

On top of his existing political difficulties Peru’s President Pedro Castillo now faces a new legal challenge: on 29 May the attorney-general’s office announced that it had escalated a pre-existing investigation against Castillo to cover the alleged crimes of influence peddling, collusion, and “criminal organisation”.
