In brief: Production begins at major new gas well in Bolivia

* Bolivia’s state-owned hydrocarbons company, Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), has announced that production has begun at the Margarita 10 natural gas well in Tarija department, with an initial extraction rate of 1m cubic metres of gas per day (m3/d). Production will gradually be increased to 2.7m m3/d, according to YPFB. President Luis Arce has claimed that Margarita 10, operated by Spanish energy company Repsol, will earn the treasury US$260m in royalties each year.
