In brief: Remittances up in El Salvador

*El Salvador’s central bank (BCR) has released new figures which show that remittances to El Salvador totalled US$701.8m in May, bringing the five-month total to US$3.14bn, an increase of 3.9% on the same period in 2021. According to the BCR, 93.9% of remittances were sent from the US followed by Canada (0.9%); Spain (0.4%), Italy (0.3%) and the UK (0.1%).
