* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released updated growth forecasts, in which it now expects the country’s GDP to grow 1.7% this year, up from previous projections of 1%. The revision is based on better-than-expected Q1 figures: the Brazilian economy grew 1% quarter-on-quarter in January-March. The BCB’s forecast for 2022 now exceeds that of the government, which forecasts 1.5% growth this year. The BCB’s revised figures were announced in a press conference, ahead of the release of the bank’s quarterly inflation report, which has been delayed to the end of the month due to strikes amongst BCB workers.
