CHILE: No respite for Boric

It is all going sour for Chile’s youngest-ever president. There were high hopes when Gabriel Boric, 36, took office in March that the most left-wing president for nearly 50 years would take strides to improve social justice and equity, at the root of the huge protests in 2019. But far from advancing an ambitious reform agenda his government has struggled on a day-to-day basis, making a series of missteps that has seen Boric’s approval rating plunge.
