In brief: Economic activity drops in Brazil

* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has updated its index of economic activity (IBC-Br), which shows that economic activity decreased 0.44% in April compared with the previous month. The BCB figures, which were released late following a recent strike by central bank workers, showed the index in April 2022 was up 2.23% on a non-seasonally adjusted basis from April 2021.
