In brief: Costa Rica’s unemployment drops

*Costa Rica’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released new figures which show that the national unemployment rate was 12.0 % in the March to May 2022 rolling quarter, a drop of 5.7 percentage points on the same quarter in 2021 and down from the 13.3% unemployment rate in the immediately preceding quarter ending in April. The Inec report shows a high gender imbalance in unemployment, with a 16.2% unemployment rate amongst women in the March-May 2022 quarter compared with just 9.1% for men.
