In brief: Argentina’s Fernández unveils infrastructure projects

* Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández has unveiled details of seven of the 120 public works projects envisioned under the government’s ‘Argentina GRANDE’ infrastructure plan. The seven projects will require a total investment of Ar$71.28bn (US$553.29m), which will go towards road building and improvements; hospital construction; and dam maintenance. Putting the total cost of the planned 120 projects at Ar$837bn, Fernández said that “public works must be a great engine to bring work and development to the whole country… We’re doing this so that Argentina recovers its production, work, dignity, public education and public health.” Public Works Minister Gabriel Katopodis said that that in each region, the planned projects will “drive the economic sector that defines the development of that place.”
