ARGENTINA: Burying the hatchet…in the supreme court
President Alberto Fernández and Vice President Cristina Fernández, who until recently were barely on speaking terms, do appear to have agreed something of a truce, at least for now. Along with Sergio Massa, the president of the lower chamber of congress, they have begun to improve coordination within the dispute-ridden ruling left-of-centre Frente de Todos (FdT) coalition. It is possible that the vice president has agreed to halt her criticisms of economic policy, not just because she got her wish with the recent departure of the economy minister Martín Guzmán [WR-22-27] but also in return for enlisting presidential support in her battle with the supreme court (CSJN).
