In brief: Mexico’s monthly economic activity drops

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for its monthly global indicator of economic activity (IGAE) which show economic activity decreased 0.2% in May, as compared to the previous month. In seasonally-adjusted monthly terms, activities in the tertiary sector (services) fell 0.3%, while the primary sector (agriculture) increased 2.2% and secondary sector (industry) grew 0.1%. In year-on-year terms, economic activity increased 1.3% in real terms, with the secondary sector up 3.1%, primary activities up 3% and the tertiary sector increasing 0.3%.
