HURRICANE KATRINA: The economic effects of Hurricane Katrina

The US Trade Representative, Rob Portman, said on 16 September that the US government was considering suspending anti-dumping (ie protectionist) duties on Mexican cement, Canadian lumber and foreign steel to aid reconstruction in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. He said that US government agencies had discussed the idea but a decision had yet to be taken.
