In brief: New transport deals hailed in Colombia's capital

Claudia López, the mayor of Colombia’s capital Bogotá, has announced the inking of an agreement with Colombia’s national government to co-finance two new transport infrastructure projects. One is a second line for the Bogotá metro, which will span 15.5km, with a total investment of Col$34.9trn (more than US$8.1bn), of which 70% will come from the national government, and the remainder from the municipal government. The other project is a new highway, Calle 13, which would receive Col$4.97trn, with the same division of funding from the national and municipal governments. According to a municipal government press release, the construction of the second line of the Bogotá metro will benefit around 1.4m residents while reduce carbon emissions by over 88,000 tonnes of CO2.
