In brief: Brazil reduces grain harvest forecast

* The Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (Conab), the logistics arm of Brazil’s agriculture ministry, has announced that it expects the country’s 2021/2022 grain harvest to amount to 271.4m tonnes (t). This, Conab said, would represent an increase of 6.2% (15.9m t) on the 2020/2021 grain harvest, but would be 0.4% lower than Conab’s previous forecast in July. Conab attributed the slight reduction to drought in Brazil’s southeast and centre-west.
