ST KITTS & NEVIS: Early election gamble fails

St Kitts & Nevis went to the polls on 5 August, only a little over two years after the last general election and well before the end of Timothy Harris’s and his Team Unity’s mandate. The election was forced on Harris because of a breakup of the coalition, and the beneficiary has been the St Kitts & Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) which won six of the 11 contested seats under its leader Terrance Drew, who now becomes prime minister.
