In brief: Brazil’s federal debt falls

* Brazil’s federal treasury has released the latest figures on the country’s federal public debt (DPF) for the month of July, showing a decrease of 0.70% compared to June. The DPF totalled R$5.80trn (US$1.13trn), down from R$5.84trn in June. The domestic debt (DPMFI), which accounts for 95.76% of the total DPF, was down 0.66%, from R$5.59trn in June to R$5.55trn in July. The remaining 4.24% of the DPF is external debt (DPFe) which declined by 1.75%, closing July with a value of R$245.81bn.
