In brief: Brazil's GDP grows in Q2

* Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has reported GDP growth of 1.2% in the second quarter of 2022, compared with the preceding quarter. According to Ibge, GDP in Q2 2022 was also up 3.2% when compared to the same quarter in 2021, while accumulated GDP growth in the first two quarters of 2022 was 2.5%. The biggest quarterly GDP increase was in the industrial sector, which grew by 2.2% thanks to “positive performances” in electricity and gas, sewage, and waste management (up 3.1%), construction (up 2.7%), and the extractive sector (up 2.2%). Ibge stated that the industrial growth was followed by services, at 1.3% growth, and agriculture and livestock farming, at 0.5%.
