In brief: Inflation remains low in Bolivia

* Bolivia’s national statistics institute (INE) has released its latest consumer price index (IPC), showing that monthly inflation in August was 0.04% while year-on-year inflation was 1.55%. The INE noted that inflation in August was driven by price increases for education, furniture, domestic goods & services, food & non-alcoholic drinks, and housing & basic services. The steepest price rises for individual products were for potatoes, chicken, onions, laundry detergent, and taxi fares. Bolivia has so far avoided the steep inflation that has afflicted many other countries in the region over the past year.
