In brief: Peru raises interest rates again as inflation slows

*Peru’s central bank (BCRP) has raised the benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 6.75%, the 14th consecutive hike. This was a smaller increase than many analysts expected, following a slowdown in inflation. In a statement, BCRP stated that annual inflation was running at 8.40% in August, down from 8.74% in July and that expectations for inflation over the next 12 months had fallen to 5.10% from 5.16% while several economic indicators improved in August (without providing specifics).
