* Brazil’s national council of coffee exporters (Cecafé) has released its latest statistics for August, which show that although the country’s coffee exports continue to fall in volume, revenue from these exports has reached a new record. Last month, Brazil exported 2.76m sacks of coffee (one sack = 60kg), down 2.5% on the volume reported in August 2021. However, revenue for the month has soared 49.5% year-on-year, to US$655.3m. From January to August 2022, revenue from Brazil’s coffee exports increased 61.4% to US$5.9bn, a record for the period, although in volume coffee exports declined 5.3% year-on-year. “
The record revenue is the result of favourable prices in internal and external markets as well as a favourable exchange rate,” Cecafé president,
Günter Häusler, commented.
