*Uruguay’s central bank (BCU) has released new figures which show that GDP grew 7.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2022. According to BCU, this growth was mainly due to high yields achieved in the soybean harvest, which began being exported during the quarter, and to the normalisation of sanitary conditions in the country, which had an important impact on educational services. In seasonally adjusted terms, economic activity increased 1.1% with respect to the immediately preceding quarter. This follows yearly growth of 8.3% in the first quarter of 2021, which also increased 0.6% in quarterly terms.
