HAITI: More civil unrest

Recent acts of violence have forced Canada, Mexico, Spain, and neighbouring Dominican Republic to shut their embassies in Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince. Dominican President Luis Abinader went as far as to warn last week that Haiti was experiencing a “low intensity civil war”. United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres has also expressed deep concern about the current situation where “civil unrest has brought the country to a standstill”.
