* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for the consumer price index (INPC), which rose by 0.41% in the first two weeks of September compared to the previous two weeks. This brings annual inflation to 8.76%, the highest level since 2000. Annual inflation stood at 5.87% in the same period of 2021. Mexico’s central bank (Banxico)
released its latest inflation forecasts on 1 September, which predicted inflation of 8.1% at the end of the year, up from a previous estimate of 6.7%. Banxico also expects a higher level of inflation than previously projected for the end of 2023.
