PERU | Mining. The government announced on 21 September that it will conduct a prior consultation process with indigenous communities living near the Antapaccay copper mine project operated by the Anglo-Swiss mining company Glencore. The announcement came the day after a government delegation met the leaders of indigenous communities in the province of Espinar, in the southern region of Cusco, who had blocked the key access route, known as the ‘Corredor Minero Sur’, or southern mining corridor, for a week to demand a consultation process over the Coroccohuayco expansion project.
