HONDURAS: Record coca bust raises questions

In August, Honduran authorities reported the discovery of over 1.6m coca leaf bushes in the most important seizure of its kind in the country. The discovery has fanned fears that the country is continuing to transition from being a cocaine transit country to a producer. Tackling the narcotics trade and extraditing individuals involved in it remains a key priority for the leftist Partido Libertad y Refundación (Libre) government led by President Xiomara Castro.
