In brief: Unemployment falls in Colombia

* Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has published the latest unemployment figures, showing that the unemployment rate stood at 10.6% in August – a 2.2 percentage point drop on August 2021. However, the underemployment rate rose by 0.9 percentage points year-on-year, standing at 8.7% this August. In seasonally-adjusted monthly terms, unemployment fell by 0.2 percentage points in August compared with July. The largest number of jobs were created in vehicle trade and repairs (+372,000 year-on-year), and public administration, defence, education & healthcare (+300,000).
