In brief: Chile’s economic slowdown continues

*Chile’s central bank (BCCh) has released new figures showing that the monthly index of economic activity (Imacec), which serves as a proxy for GDP, showed no variation in August 2022 compared to the same month of 2021. In monthly terms, the Imacec was up 0.6% compared to July. BCCh attributed the yearly Imacec results to the growth of the services sector, which was offset by declines in mining and trade. Monthly growth was down to the performance of services, particularly education.
