Petro makes major breakthrough on land reform
President Gustavo Petro signed a ground-breaking accord this week in his concerted efforts to address the vexed issue of land reform in Colombia, which lies at the heart of the country’s long-running armed conflict. To do so he had to negotiate with one of his fiercest critics, the president of the influential national cattle ranchers’ federation (Fedegan), José Félix Lafaurie.
