In brief: Brazil’s sugar production expected to rise

* The Brazilian agricultural consultancy Datagro has said that it expects Brazil’s sugar cane crop in the 2022/2023 season to reach 600m tonnes (t), with 542mt of this expected to come from the from the centre-south and 58mt from the north/northeast. For the following 2023-2024 harvest, Datagro expects the centre-south’s sugar cane harvest to rise to between 575mt-590mt. As regards sugar output, Datagro is forecasting this could reach between 36-38.5mt in 2023/2024 in the centre-south – up from 33.25mt in 2022/2023.
