In brief: Mexico’s economic activity picks up

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for its monthly global indicator of economic activity (IGAE) which show economic activity increased by 1% in August 2022, compared to the previous month. In seasonally-adjusted monthly terms, economic activity in the primary sector (agriculture) grew by 3.6%, while the secondary sector (industry) was unchanging and the tertiary (services) sector was up 1.2.% In year-on-year terms economic activity increased by 4.7%, with economic activity up by 5.4% in the tertiary sector, by 4.3% in the primary sector, and by 3% in the secondary sector.
