COLOMBIA-VENEZUELA: Petro meets Maduro

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro travelled to Caracas for a highly publicised meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro in the Palacio de Miraflores on 1 November. This was the first meeting between leaders of both countries for 11 years. The last meeting between presidents of both countries took place in Puerto Ordaz, in the eastern Venezuelan state of Bolívar in 2016 when President Juan Manuel Santos (2010-2018) met Maduro.
