CHILE: Boric buoyed by congressional result

President Gabriel Boric’s ruling coalition clung on to the leadership of the lower chamber of congress on 7 November after an emboldened opposition sought to seize control of the presidency of the body, which would have been a significant setback for his government’s efforts to advance its stalled legislative agenda. The timing was all the more important because just days earlier Boric had presented his government’s long-awaited pension reform initiative.
