On 11 November Peru’s congressional subcommittee on constitutional accusations narrowly voted to accuse President Pedro Castillo of treason and for him to be barred from holding public office for five years for comments he made to CNN en Español in January this year floating the possibility of consulting the Peruvian people in a referendum about granting Bolivia sovereign access to the sea.
