In brief: FDI soars in Mexico

* Mexico’s economy ministry (SE) has revealed that foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first three quarters of 2022 amounted to US$32.14bn, representing a 29.5% increase on the same period in 2021. The SE noted that “this is the highest figure since 1999 for a similar period”. The US provided 39.1% of the FDI received in the first three quarters of this year, followed by Canada (9.5%), Spain (7.1%), and Germany (2.9%). Most of the investment went towards manufacturing (36.3%), followed by transport (14.5%), mass media (13.6%), and financial services (11.6%).
