ECUADOR: Struggling to respond to drug violence

Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso announced on 22 November the installation of a new control and monitoring system for the country’s 36 prisons as his government tries to respond to a wave of violence and fatal prison riots fuelled by drug-trafficking rivalries.
