Pacific Alliance summit postponed

Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has postponed the Pacific Alliance summit, which was scheduled to take place in Mexico City (CDMX) on 25 November. The decision to postpone the summit came after the federal congress in Peru, one of the four founding members of the bloc which was formed in April 2011, refused to allow President Pedro Castillo to travel to Mexico. Given that Peru was set to take over Mexico’s pro tempore presidency of the trade bloc at the summit, López Obrador said it was important that the beleaguered Peruvian president was present at the meeting.
