Raquel Buenrostro has met with the US secretary of commerce,
Gina Raimondo, in Washington to set out a plan for 2023 to strengthen supply chains. According to a press release from Mexico’s economy ministry (SE), the pair discussed the relocation of companies from Asia to North America and the strengthening of supply chains, in particular for the printed circuit board and semiconductor sectors. According to the SE, Buenrostro and Raimondo agreed that the relocation of companies was a
“historic opportunity” for the strengthening and economic integration of North America, stating that bilateral coordination for generating better conditions and promoting new investments in Mexico was improving through the annual bilateral High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED) meeting. The SE said that Buenrostro and Raimondo would make a joint presentation to the private sector in the first two months of 2023 to explain the opportunities and economic and tax benefits that the relocation of companies offers to both countries.
